Welcome to this unit which will allow you to develop an awareness of the different types of abuse and to understand some of the reasons why abuse happens.  You will also be able to explain how a person centered, multi-agency approach can promote and protect the rights, independence and well beings of adults.

 

By the end of this unit you should be able to:

 

  1. Know types and indicators of abuse
  2. Understand factors which may lead to abusive situations
  3. Know legislation and regulations which govern the safeguarding of adults
  4. Know working strategies and procedures to reduce the risk of abuse of adults
  5. Understanding the role of supportive relationships to promote the rights, independence and well being of adults using health and social care services
